About us

 Why buy from us?

We are aware that in the UK tens of vendors offer RC helicopter kits and spares.  We at Ultimate Helicopters specialise in our product range and also have a in-depth  knowledge of the product build, kit build and operational setups required.  We offer exclusively to beginners  who purchase product from us  e-mail and telephone support of the purchased product to help you though the build stages and also provide basic advise on setups.  Setting up helicopters can be a complex process and if not setup correct can make the flying and hovering very difficult.  We are also aware that pricing is of importance and due to the companies overhead being very small we can afford to offer kits and components at very competitive prices.

Which Helicopter should I buy?

At Ultimate Helicopters we stock a wide selection of helicopters.  We however recommend that your initial purchase should be a 30 class machine, the main reasons are due to the spares being cheaper than the 50-60 class machines and also generally the machines can be fitted with standard entry radio and engines thus reducing your packaged price.

Which Radio equipment should I buy?

We always recommend that you start  with a set that has digital trims if possible and can support CCPM (this is a type of swash plate control system on a helicopter).  Servos are supplied normally with the radio if a kit is purchased which are normally fine for a 30 class machine and provide adequate response speeds etc.

Which Gyro should I buy?

We recommend that you purchase a Heading Hold gyro, although under training conditions you may not use the heading hold feature most pilots use this when more experienced ie after 3-6 months of flying.  Cheaper gyro models do not support heading hold but this means that you will need to purchase a H.H gyro after a number of months.  Resell values are very low on gyros that are not heading hold.

Why do Ultimate Helicopters not offer deals packages?

We feel that customers should be able to make their own decisions on radio, engine etc when purchasing a new helicopter.  Some stockists offer deals which generally comprise of cheaper radios and engines which can lead to training difficulties and again require upgrades after a few months (see gyro section!).  It is important that you consider the upper market products when making a purchase as hop ups can be considerable more in the long term when you decide to make a change, we frequently see this with engines and gyros and radios.

How long will it take me to build my kit?

Depending on the kit you purchase will depend on the build time.  The better you build the kit eg the more true, and to manufactures tolerance to better the kit will fly and longer it will last.  We suggest a build should be over 7 sessions of approx 2-3 hours.  Again remember if you are unsure we can assist via the phone or mail if you purchase from us until 9PM most evenings.

Can I import from another country as the kits are cheaper?

This is totally legal but you should consider the hidden costs of the taxes ie VAT, import duty, shipping insurance, inport duties and dispute issues if parts are missing or damaged in transit.  Generally the costs are also the same when you add the above factors.
